PoolPro debuted in May as a special supplement to SpaRetailer. Our premise for launching it was pretty simple: We felt the trade press underserved the swimming pool service and repair segment of our industry. As the economy has gotten tougher, pool and spa dealers, builders, suppliers and manufacturers have realized a good service and repair business is vital to the bottom line. Repair revenue and monthly service contracts have rewarded service firms with predictable cash flow, and have renewed enthusiasm and stability. With this spotlight on pool service comes a great opportunity to leverage new ideas to maximize revenue and efficiency. In this issue, we tackle service topics including Internet pricing (p. 8), innovations in pool filters (p. 20), troubleshooting error codes (p. 16) and job-site payment processing (p. 12), plus an in-depth interview with Manuel Perez de la Mesa (p. 24), president and CEO of PoolCorp.In 2013, we will publish three issues of PoolPro — in March, May and November.
