Some Good Hot Tub Advice - Keeping Your Hot Tub Clean

If you are purchasing a new hot tub for your bathroom or back yard, then perhaps it is time to listen to a little helpful advice. Before you run into any problems a little helpful hot tub advice can pay great dividends and prevent you from running into trouble later on down the track.

A hot tub is a significant family investment. Hot tubs provide a facility for you and your family to relax and unwind at the end of the day or on the weekends with friends. The last thing you want to do is waste your money and waste your time. A little bit of advice about cleaning procedures can ensure that your hot tub remains in shape so that it is both safe and comfortable to immerse yourself in.

Recommended Hot Tub Advice for Hot Tub Maintenance

The following hot tub advice gives you some tried and tested tips for procedures that will assist you in ensuring that your hot tub remains in good condition:

On a Daily Basis

  • Check and if you need to, regulate the sanitizer level.
  • Monitor the PH level of the water to ensure it is at a safe and appropriate level and if you need to, make any changes using dealer prescribed chemicals.
  • Check the water line with water cleaning paste and top up if required.

On a Weekly Basis

  • Oxidize the hot tub with non-chlorine shock (do this weekly if you use the hot tub 2-3 times per week (more if you use it every day).
  • Add no-foaming lotion to reduce the amount of foaming in your tub.
  • Check the calcium hardness and add dealer prescribed chemical as required.

On a Monthly Basis

  • Using a cartridge cleaner to clean out the filter cartridge (it must be cleared so that it will continue to operate effectively).
  • Check the water balance by taking a water sample.

Along with the hot tub advice you should remember that if you are not sure how to undertake any of the hot tub advice as we have suggested you should always seek hot tub advice from your pool or spa dealer. They will only be too happy to help.
